The National Landlords Association (NLA) is fighting Government on the proposed turnover tax – the changes to landlord taxation introduced in Clause 24 of the Finance Bill – and is urging landlords to use NLA Lobby to influence Parliament to amend the Bill.

Following the Chancellor’s announcement of a turnover tax – where mortgage interest relief for individual residential landlords will be restricted to the basic rate of income tax - the NLA has launched NLA Lobby, a quick and simple tool designed to help landlords lobby their MP on the issue by providing them with evidence of how the Budget will affect them and their tenants.

Carolyn Uphill, chairman at the NLA, said: “These changes will have far-reaching consequences for the private rented sector and we need to put more pressure on policy makers to make sure they understand the impact the Chancellor’s tax hike will have. You must stand up for your rights and the good of the industry – don’t leave this for others to fight. We all need to act now by letting our MPs know your concerns via NLA Lobby, to get them on our side and be our voice in Parliament.”
