Carillion Developments recently completed phase two of its £80m mixed-use scheme, The Square, in Sheffield.
The second phase of the development consisted of 42,000 sq ft of office space spread over six floors. This followed a further 43,000 sq ft of office accommodation, a 114-bed Travelodge and a 400-space car park which constituted phase one of The Square. The entire office space of phase one was secured by a single occupier, South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive. Carillion believes that this shows confidence in the scheme as a commercial location. An additional 165,000 sq ft of office space spread across three buildings is planned for the third phase of the development.
Carillon said that it hopes that The Square would become the driving force behind regeneration planned for the wider Castlegate area.
Neil McMillan, development director for Carillion Developments, told PIN; “Our agenda with this development was to pioneer the regeneration of the Castlegate area of Sheffield and this latest phase, in addition to the immense success of phase one, takes us well on our way to achieving that goal. Through this latest project we have demonstrated our commitment to quality and support of urban regeneration.”
