Planning submitted for brownfield site in Cardiff

Vastint UK has submitted an outline planning application for the regeneration of a brownfield site in Cardiff, following an extensive public consultation.

The masterplan proposal seeks to redevelop a 40-acre site into a mixed-use development that will strengthen connections between Cardiff City Centre and the bay along the banks of the River Taff.

Andrew Cobden, Managing Director of Vastint UK, said: “We have worked closely with Cardiff Council, planners Turley, architects 3D Reid, landscape designer Planit-IE and Stantec over the past two years to create a vision that we hope will transform this underused area of Cardiff into a thriving new district for the city and its residents.”

The development, currently referred to as ‘The Embankment’, includes plans for up to 2,500 new homes alongside 54,000 sqm of business space as well as opportunities for leisure, hospitality and retail uses, on what is currently under-utilised, low-quality industrial space.
