Second phase of Sugar House Island scheme secured

Vastint UK has secured planning consent for a second phase of commercial space at its east London multi-use development, Sugar House Island.

The 26-acre mixed-use development, close to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, has received planning consent for three commercial blocks up to seven storeys tall, that will deliver 290,000 sq ft of new office space and 40,000 sq ft flexible-use floorspace at street level.

Andrew Cobden, MD of Vastint UK, said: “The grant of consent by LLDC enables Sugar House Island to further strengthen east London as an optimal location for occupiers seeking well-connected offices, built to a human scale.

“The addition of this trio of larger office buildings to those in Dane’s Yard will create employment opportunities within Stratford, served by a large range of transport alternatives and surrounded by a wealth of facilities, communal outdoor spaces and canals.”

Construction is due to start in autumn 2020 and be completed by 2023, adding to the 100,000 sq ft of office space completed in Sugar House Island’s first phase: Dane’s Yard.
