Macclesfield Retail Park gets council approval

Outline planning consent has been agreed for a £13m retail development on the former Barracks Mill site in Macclesfield after Cheshire East Council approved the application by developer, Cedar Invest.

The plans show approximately 130,000sq ft of new retail space on the site, together with a 369-space car park on a derelict site off Black Lane, supported by smaller food and refreshments outlets.

Around 100 jobs will be created during construction, with hundreds more permanent positions upon completion.
The site has been derelict since 2004 .

Cedar Invest owns the site and hopes to appoint a contractor to begin work in autumn of 2018 once a reserved matters application has been considered by Cheshire East Council in August, with the first stores opening in time for Christmas 2019.
