Redevelopment of Bristol print works agreed

Alaska and Helix Property Advisors, have been granted planning permission for The Print Hall, a student residential scheme on the site of the old Bristol Evening Post headquarters and print works at 1 Temple Way, Bristol.

The proposed development, which includes extensive public realm works, was approved by Bristol City Council this month by a unanimous committee.

Chris Moore, Director of Alaska - the developer of The Print Hall, said: "There is great demand for student accommodation in the city which has led us to developing a predominantly student housing led scheme. We have worked closely with local stakeholders and are extremely pleased with the decision."

The scheme will create 270 student beds in three separate blocks in an 11-storey high-rise building that includes amenities at ground level. The redevelopment will include extensive public realm works to Temple Way and the reinstatement of the historic walking route at Jacob Street.

Work is due to start on site in early 2016 with completion scheduled for mid 2017.
