Airport City Manchester has announced a new 75,000 sq ft office scheme that will be the first office scheme for the unique £800m project.
The building will be sub-divisible in four ways on each floor and is designed to meet a specific market need that is strongly represented at Airport City. Construction will start on site in the summer and it will be ready for new occupiers at the end of 2016.
Lynda Shillaw, CEO for Property at Manchester Airports Group (MAG), said: "We recently announced a speculative logistics scheme at Airport City's Global Logistics site and our commitment to another spec building reflects our belief as a joint venture in the quality of our offer, and the strength of the region's economy.
"2015 is set to be a big year for Airport City, particularly on the north site, with strong foundations laid in 2014. As well as our office scheme the next few months will see further announcements for the project."
The new office scheme will form a key element of the Central Business District at Airport City alongside a 350 bedroom hotel, which has planning permission. These developments form a crescent around the first phase of public realm and are adjacent to the recently expanded Ground Transport Interchange.
Airport City Manchester is a joint venture project with MAG (50%), Carillion PLC (20%), Beijing Construction Engineering Group (BCEG) (20%) and the Greater Manchester Pension Fund (GMPF) (10%).
