Plans for a new residential community in Church Gresley by St Modwen have been granted for the regeneration of a 30 acre former clay works close to Swadlincote, Derbyshire.
St Modwen and the site owner Beepart Ltd has secured planning consent for more than 300 new two, three and four bedroom family houses, including some affordable housing.
Julie Rossiter, senior asset manager at St Modwen said: "This will be a very accessible, high quality development that is close to existing homes, shops, schools, healthcare facilities and the countryside."
The development will include new public open space and a children's play area. Public transport amenities will be improved, including the provision of pedestrian and cycle routes to boost connectivity to surrounding areas.
Mark Lomas, property director at Dyson Group PLC which owns Beepart Ltd, said: "Up to 600 new jobs could be created during the construction programme."
The site will now be brought to market and sold to a housebuilder.
