Mayor of London Sadiq Khan has given the go-ahead to two high-rise housing developments that had been previously rejected by their respective borough councils.
Muse Developments’ 21-storey Hale Wharf tower has now been approved for construction in Tottenham, providing 505 new flats. Haringey Council had rejected it because of its impact on green belt land.
Also getting the mayor’s approval after being refused is the 17-storey Palmerston Road development in Wealdstone, which will have 184 flats. This had been rejected by Harrow Council for being too high.
Both sites sit within designated opportunity areas and housing zones – areas of land that have been deemed appropriate for development.
Mayor Sadiq Khan said: “Having carefully considered all the evidence available to me, I am confident both these high-density developments will deliver hundreds of the much-needed, genuinely affordable homes Londoners need in areas of the capital ripe for further development.”
