NLA Launches pre-election campaign

The National Landlords Association (NLA) has just launched its latest campaign: ‘Quid Pro Quo’. The campaign, which leads up to the General Election in May, gives landlords an overview of the various political party manifestos and details political opinion and policies surrounding key topics such as rent controls, licensing, house building and accreditation.

The NLA has also launched a new online lobby tool to make it easy for landlords and tenants to write to their local MP and raise their concerns about the introduction of damaging rent control policy in the run up to the election.

Some of the UK’s main political parties are keen to bring in artificial rent controls if elected in May, in an attempt to de-escalate rents and make private renting more affordable.

Chairman Carolyn Uphill said: “Quid Pro Quo’ – or something for something – means the large body of private landlords in the UK want something more than ever tightening legislation come this May. Over the next few months the campaign will look at some of the key legislative issues for landlords and discuss the parties’ various manifestos in more detail.

“Using our lobby tool it takes just minutes to fire a letter off to your local MP and know you’ve done your bit to prevent damaging rent control policy from being introduced in the future.”
