Stoke on Trent to instigate selective licensing

Stoke-on-Trent City Council is considering designating parts of the city as Selective Licensing areas and has opened a consultation on the issue.

If approved, all private landlords in the Fenton and Cobridge areas of the city will have to have a licence to practise as a landlord.

The Housing Act 2004 states that prior to an area becoming a licensed area the city council should consult with anyone who has an interest in the area concerned.

In response to these requirements a questionnaire is being sent to all interested parties in the two proposed areas to complete, as well as a leaflet giving information of the proposed designation.

The Consultation ends on 15 November 2013.
