Average house prices in England and Wales rose by 7.71% year-on-year during the second quarter of 2006, to now stand at £199,184, according to the Land Registry.
Annual house price inflation is at its highest, at more than 11%, in the north and north-west of England, followed by London (up 8%). The lowest increases were seen in East Anglia (+4%) and in the East Midlands (+4.4%).
