Interest rates may not have to be raised

The Bank of England will not have to raise interest rates beyond 4.5% during the course of 2006, according to the Item Club, which uses the Treasurys own economic model to gauge the UK economy.
Item believes that CPI inflation will fall from June’s 2.5% to 1.8% by the end of 2007, which effectively means that interest rates can remain static at 4.5%.
