Asda branches out into property

Supermarket chain Asda has launched a trial home-buying service in ten of its outlets all located in the northeast of England.

The scheme, which charges vendors 1%, involves properties registered for sale being viewed at computer terminals in Asda stores.
Ray Boulger of mortgage advisers John Charcol, said: "The challenge for companies is to get enough properties on the site to make it worth while for people to look at them."
