Ballymore has secured planning consent from the London Borough of Newham for the redevelopment of its Knights Road site in the Royal Docks.
The proposals, close to West Silvertown DLR, will transform an industrial brownfield site into a mixed-use neighbourhood, delivering 1,667 homes, including affordable housing and family homes. More than 11,000sqm of light industrial and flexible workspace is also provided.
John Mulryan, CEO, Ballymore UK, said: “Securing consent for Knights Road is an important step in the continued evolution of the Royal Docks. Our long-term commitment to Newham is based on a stewardship approach - creating well-designed places that support both living and working, and that can contribute to the area over time. We look forward to continuing our work in the Royal Docks in partnership with the Council, local communities and local businesses to bring forward this next phase.”
At Knights Road, over 10,000sqm of new public realm and 8,000sqm of communal open space will be delivered, structured around a network of routes and connections that prioritise walking and cycling. As part of the proposals, Ballymore has committed £1m of ring-fenced investment towards improvements to Lyle Park.
