A proposed new sustainable community to deliver new homes, schools, community facilities, green spaces and essential infrastructure for Lichfield have been submitted to Lichfield District Council by IM Land.
Plans for Curborough Brooks includes up to 1,200 much-needed new homes with 40% affordable and 5% self-build or custom build housing.
Richard Knight, UK Residential Delivery Director at IM Land, said: “The planning application brings together six years of design and technical work, as well as extensive community engagement and listening to local people’s views to help shape the best possible proposals. The proportion of affordable homes, the masterplan on a smaller parcel of land than originally proposed and a carefully considered design code have all been developed as a result of community feedback.
“With a shortage of homes in the district, Curborough Brooks would provide homes for everyone from families to first time buyers, downsizers to young professionals. Importantly, we are committed to delivering the social infrastructure, green spaces, services and transport infrastructure to make this a great place to live.”
The proposals also include two new schools including a secondary school with sixth form and a primary school. A new mixed-use local centre with shops, services, facilities and a Health Hub for residents and visitors to enjoy as well as a Sports Hub with high quality sporting facilities are also outlined as part of plans.
Green spaces will make up 45% of the scheme, which will include a new public park located centrally and community allotments.
As part of the infrastructure plans, walking, cycling and wheeling routes, as well as mobility hubs, new public transport connections and road infrastructure, will link the new homes to schools, shops and services in Curborough Brooks but also to the city centre, Fradley, the Lakes, railway stations and further afield.
