New homes and children’s nursery set for Nutbourne in Chichester

Metis Homes has secured detailed planning permission for 103 new homes and a 70-place children’s nursery on a 6.41Ha (15.8 acre) largely brownfield site in the village of Nutbourne in Chichester.

The site, located on the northern side of Main Road (A259), sits between an existing residential development and what was formerly home to a scrapyard. It’s taken the development and design team over seven years of working alongside Chichester District Council and key stakeholders to reach an agreement in order to redevelop the site into much-needed new homes and amenity provision.

Adam O’Brien, Managing Director of Metis Homes, said: “We are thrilled to have finally secured approval for our plans to develop and enhance this site to create not only new homes to meet local need but to also provide childcare and employment opportunities, and create attractive green spaces.

“Responding to feedback from the local community and stakeholders on our initial proposals, our experienced team and expert consultants worked to deliver a sustainable scheme that aims to enhance the local area. After the best part of a decade to reach this milestone, we’re now looking forward to the concept becoming reality.”

The scheme will comprise a mix of two, three, four and five-bedroom homes and one and two-bedroom apartments and will include 20% affordable housing. The breakers yard and associated buildings will be removed, and the area restored to a natural landscape. A children’s nursery will also be built to support local childcare needs and create new employment opportunities.

The site is within easy walking distance to Southbourne village centre which provides amenities including shops, healthcare, and wider transport links.
