Planning consent secured for 253 homes in Stevenage

Planning consent for housebuilder Redrow’s first phase of new homes located to the East of Stevenage off Gresley Way, has been approved by East Herts District Council.

The phase on the 93-acre site named Hazel Park, will comprise 253 homes and will contain homes and apartments ranging in size from two to five-bedrooms.

Kerry McCoubrey, Sales Director at Redrow Eastern, said: “We are excited to be delivering the first phase of homes in Stevenage. This scheme is meeting local housing need and providing a wide range of options in terms of size and affordability, catering for a diverse mix of buyers across the property ladder.

“Benefitting from excellent connections and surrounded by an abundance of green open spaces, we anticipate that Hazel Park will be an incredibly popular place to buy a home and we look forward to starting construction work.”

Within the 618 new homes, affordable provision is also secured at 40%, through a mixed tenure of shared ownership and affordable rent. The new community will also feature land allocated for a primary school and preschool, 6 self-build plots, a care home, assisted living homes and a local retail and community centre.

Construction on this first housing phase is due to start in the Autumn, and the community is expected to launch to market in January 2023.

Redrow secured outline planning consent for up to 618 homes for the entire site in December 2020.
