Vistry Partnerships and Peterborough-based housing association Cross Keys Homes have completed the acquisition of British Sugar’s former headquarters off Oundle Road, Peterborough in order to convert the site into high-quality family homes and apartments.

Located south-west of Peterborough town centre, the £14m scheme has outline planning permission for up to 74 residential dwellings and upon completion all of the homes, which will be affordable, will be managed by Cross Keys Homes.

Greg Wood, Vistry Partnerships Pre-Construction Director for East Midlands, said: “By working closely with Cross Keys Homes, we have created an ambitious plan for British Sugar’s former headquarters in Peterborough. Not only will our project accelerate the delivery of affordable homes in the area, but it will transform an important local landmark to benefit the community and surrounding area.”

In 2020, Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority confirmed it would part-fund the Oundle Road project to encourage a greater delivery of affordable homes in the area.

Having acquired the site, Vistry Partnerships and Cross Keys Homes will be submitting a Reserved Matters planning application to Peterborough City Council in the near future.
