Aldi signs up to Marina Quay, Rhyl

Scarborough International Properties has signed up Aldi to its £25m Marina Quay development on the seafront in Rhyl, North Wales.

Aldi has agreed to take 18,567 sq ft of space at the 132,000 sq ft retail and leisure development, having relocated from within the town centre to expand their store. Existing Aldi jobs will be retained and additional jobs will be created with the supermarket.

Jack Abou-Jaoude, Development Manager of Scarborough International Properties, said: “We are delighted to have been able to work with Aldi in providing a solution to their expanding presence in Rhyl. Our retail and leisure scheme will provide shops to meet the needs of the growing population of Rhyl and surrounds.”

Pre-lets have already been secured for The Range, Poundworld, Farmfoods and Greggs, with further deals for a number of food and beverage operators to be announced.

Marina Quay will generate some 500 jobs (with others created through support businesses) in an area and Scarborough has been working with the local Council and JobCentre Plus in Rhyl to ensure employment opportunities at Marina Quay are accessible to local Rhyl residents.

Practical completion of Phase II, Marina Quay is expected in early December 2017, subject to planning.
