Crosslane Student Developments has secured planning consent to deliver a 307 bed purpose-built student accommodation development on The Kingsway, Swansea and an 83 bed purpose-built student accommodation development on Calton Road, Edinburgh.
The Kingsway site in Swansea, which is currently a car park and restaurant, is situated north-west of the city centre near to both the primary shopping area and the mainline station. The University of Wales Trinity Saint David and the University of Swansea are a short walk and bus ride away, respectively.
The purpose-built student accommodation scheme will comprise 26 self-contained studio apartments and 281 en-suite cluster flats of between five and nine bedrooms plus a private landscaped courtyard and significant dedicated communal areas. The ground floor includes bicycle storage, a reception and management area for resident students, as well as a retail unit fronting onto The Kingsway.
Jon Stewart, Director at Crosslane Student Developments, said: “Crosslane is delighted to have secured planning consent for two new purpose-built student accommodation developments on Calton Road, Edinburgh and The Kingsway, Swansea. Both schemes are right in the heart of the city centre and within very easy reach of the local universities.”
The Calton Road site in Edinburgh is located opposite the New Parliament House and is a short walk to Edinburgh University’s central campus, the city’s main shopping streets and Edinburgh Waverley train station. The purpose-built four storey student accommodation scheme will comprise 80 en-suite studio apartments and three one bedroom flats, with common room, washer/driers, gym, outdoor courtyard and cycle storage.
Both schemes should be completed in time for the 2019/20 academic year.
