The Curlew Student Trust (CST), which is a fund advised by Clearbell Capital, has agreed to forward fund the student accommodation element of The Riverwalk redevelopment in Durham.
CST will own the 253 student accommodation units to be built as part of the £30m redevelopment.
Nick Berry, Partner at Clearbell Capital, said: "Following our announcement that the Odeon has signed a 20-year lease to open at The Riverwalk, this is another significant milestone for development. The Riverwalk is a truly mixed-use offer and will not only regenerate the western bank of the River Wear, but it will also bring vitality and vibrancy back to the city centre, helping to meet the needs of local residents and students alike.
"We look forward to working closely with Curlew to help deliver the new student accommodation element."
The Riverwalk includes 35,000 sq ft of new restaurants, 23 refurbished retail units and enhanced entrances and public realm. It will
be anchored by a 20,000 sq ft, six-screen Odeon cinema.
The development is due to complete in the summer of 2018, ready for occupation in September 2018.
