Planning permission for a new mixed-use scheme at Albert Embankment, as part of the wider Vauxhall Nine Elms regeneration area, has been granted by the London Borough of Lambeth.
The development will comprise 141 apartments, including 18 intermediate affordable homes, as well as 4,000 sq ft of restaurant space, 7,600 sq ft of office space and a public piazza including a new children's play area.
22-29 Albert Embankment joins two existing St James schemes already under construction and will complete the regeneration of this part of Albert Embankment. Subject to securing vacant possession, demolition is scheduled to commence in August 2015 and the development is due to complete in 2019.
Sean Ellis, Chairman of St James, said: "This final element completes our vision for regeneration of The Albert Embankment. Through our work with three leading architects, we are creating a distinctive new skyline and a fantastic place for our residents and the neighbouring community. This is also a great example of working collaboratively with LB Lambeth, to deliver innovative solutions to providing affordable homes for Londoners".
Albert Embankment sits at the northern most point of the Vauxhall Nine Elms opportunity area. The development will also facilitate the delivery of 64 affordable homes at Council rents on the Westbury Estate, which is also within Vauxhall Nine Elms Opportunity Area.
