A 50,000 sq ft retail park on Great Eastern Way in Rotherham by developer Gregory Property Group has been granted planning permission.
The 3.87 acre site adjoining Parkgate Town Centre will be anchored by a 16,500 sq ft Aldi store and contain four additional units.
Richard Tovey, director at Gregory Property Group, said: "Delivering a new Aldi fulfils a local need for an easily accessible discount food store as this was 'lost' to the area when the original Netto store was taken over by Asda.
"The site has been vacant for many years and we will be pleased to bring it back into use for the benefit of the Parkgate community."
The site, at the corner of Broad Street (A633) and Great Eastern Way (A6123) is just one mile from Rotherham town centre and was formerly owned by Pendragon and operated as a car showroom. The site was remediated two years ago and has been vacant since.
Gregory Property Group hopes to start work in site this summer with a nine month build programme.
