Planning applied for Uttoxeter mixed-use development

A planning application has been submitted by St Modwen to East Staffordshire Borough Council for a sustainable housing-led, mixed-use development on the outskirts of Uttoxeter.

The development will be on land west of the town that lies between the A50 and Bramshall Road and will comprise of 700 homes plus 10 hectares of employment space. It will also benefit from a site for a new first school, sports and recreational facilities, a small local retail centre and the provision of open green space.

Mike Timmins, senior planning surveyor at St. Modwen, said: "The location of the site is ideal for this proposed development. It is close to shops, community amenities and the road network, and is also served by several bus routes.”

The site is designated in East Staffordshire Borough Council's Preferred Option document as a location for a mixed use scheme and has been earmarked for development for a number of years and following feedback received during a public consultation event in April, St. Modwen incorporated a number of changes to its original plans, including the repositioning of the site for the first school and playing fields, increased hedgerow and tree planting, improved cycle and pathways and the realignment of some pedestrian routes linking the new development with existing residential areas.
