A mixed-use scheme by St Modwen has been given the green light by East Staffordshire Borough Council's planning committee on 175 acres of land south of Branston.
The scheme will create 770,000 sq ft of space in the manufacturing, storage and distribution sector, providing a range of units of varying size to the south of the development site with the potential to create around 1,500 new jobs locally.
The residential element will provide a mix of up to 660 three, four and five bedroom family homes in a green setting, incorporating trees and open land alongside the River Trent.
Ian Romano, senior development surveyor at St. Modwen, said: "While there were no objections to our original application from the Highways Authority, the Highways Agency, the Environment Agency or the Council's own planning officers, we wanted to address members' concerns and introduced a range of extra commitments in the revised application.
"I am pleased members recognised the changes we had made to address previous concerns over highways and residential amenity. "We look forward to starting work on the new scheme, which will bring much needed new jobs and housing for people in Burton and East Staffordshire."
