Ambitious plans for the regeneration of Tottenham High Road have been announced by Haringey Council.
Haringey Council has worked with planning and design experts Arup to develop a plan for change for the High Road West area of Tottenham - the area broadly between Tottenham High Road and the railway line, running from Coombes Croft Library in the south to the former Cannon Rubber factory in the north.
With the re-development of the Tottenham Hotspur football stadium surrounds already underway Haringey Council have released plans to regenerate north Tottenham by creating up to 1,650 top quality homes, 600 jobs and 8,900 sqm of new open space over the next 15 years, as well as a new community and sports centre, facilities for start-up businesses, and a cinema or bowling alley.
Councillor Alan Strickland, cabinet member for regeneration, said: "Improving north Tottenham has long been a priority for the council. The £430million Spurs stadium project offers us a once-in-a-generation opportunity to kick-start the improvements that local residents have told us they want to see to the neighbourhood west of Tottenham High Road.
"We've been talking to residents and businesses for the last year about the better homes, new jobs and improved community facilities that they want to see in the area, and we want to make their ambitions a reality by bringing major investment and change to the area."
Three potential options have been developed to show how the plans could be delivered in different ways to deliver different benefits to the area.
The plans include major improvements to White Hart Lane Station with the entrance moving to the south side providing better accessibility and direct access to the new football stadium.
