Exactly one year after the Opal Property Group went into a widely publicised administration the last of the student accommodation portfolio was sold in March 2014 to a 50/50 joint venture under the name of Arlington Investors Limited for £245m.
Arlington Investors is a Jersey based company with a key focus on investments in prime property and representing major family office investors from the Middle East. It is backed by Sir Frederick Barclay.The transaction is a 50/50 equity partnership with Campus Living Villages (CLV).
The investment comprises eight student accommodation sites in London, Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, Birmingham, Newport and Nottingham. The investors are advised by Arlington Advisors whose founder and chief executive is George Shweiry. He has in excess of 20 years' experience advising on and managing investments on behalf of Middle East investors.
