The Future of Development Conference 2024 took place in London’s Regents Park and it was the second annual event hosted by the Property Developers Club.
The event’s co-host was Shaunak Rauniar who explained to me about their organisation and its aims.
“The Developers Club (TDC) is an organisation dedicated to representing and supporting young property developers and house builders (under the age of 40) across the UK,” said Shaunak. “Our primary mission is to contribute to the delivery of new homes, addressing the housing shortage, whilst inspiring the next generation of SME developers.
“To date, we have successfully brought together over 100 young, dynamic and passionate developers, with an average age of 33. The idea of the club is to help each grow their respective property development businesses and contribute positively to the housing supply. We have set a target of the group delivering 10,000 homes by 2030, with a combined GDV of £2bn between us all and we are very proud that as a club, we are currently building just over 1% of the UK’s annual housing stock.”
The one-day conference at Regents University, London, included some highly regarded keynote speakers such as Melanie Leech, Chief Executive of British Property Federation (BPF), Ben Beadle, Chief Executive Officer of the National Residential Landlords Association (NRLA) and Peter Freeman, Chairman of Homes England. There were a number of panel sessions exploring the future of development from a SME’s viewpoint and the Property Developers Club were also very proud to be bringing together 10 university presidents of real estate societies, to share their thoughts on the future of the UK’s real estate industry.
