At this time of the year I normally sit down and update our brochures for Spain with the latest tax rates. The tax year in Spain is the same as the calendar year and therefore January is an ideal opportunity to get updated with any changes that the budget brought.
This year things are a bit different and I have to re-write the brochures and then update them as the year goes on. Last year on November 20th Mariano Rajoy won the National election in Spain but had to wait until 21st December until he became Prime Minister. Obviously the timing of this hasnt been great from a budget point of view as it was only on 21st December that the new Prime Minister could even start to look at the exact figures and then come up with a plan.
