Residential rents in Brazil increased 16.6% in 2022, highest level in 11 years

The value of residential rents in Brazil reached an historic high in 2022, rising 16.55% compared to a year earlier, which was the fastest annual increase in rents for 11 years.

In 2011, the increase was 17.3%. The data was released from the FipeZap+ survey, which checked the residential rental prices in 25 Brazilian cities.

In all of them, except Pelotas, in Rio Grande do Sul, there was an increase in rent above the current rate of inflation. However, there was still an increase in residential rents of 2.4% in the city, but this was below the annual rate of inflation in Brazil last year, which reached 5.8%.

Among the other 24 cities analysed, the largest increase was verified in the city of Goiânia, where rents increased by 32.9% compared to 2021.
