The London Thames Gateway Development Corporation which is working towards ensuring that the regeneration in the Lower Lea Valley and London Riverside are completed as quick as possible, are delighted that London has won the race to host the 2012 Olympics.
Lorraine Baldry, Chair of the Development Corporation said: "We are delighted to have the Olympics coming to our area and we look forward to working with the Olympics Delivery team."
She adds: "We will be focusing on infrastructure and land development that will improve linkages between local communities and the Olympic zone."
Confirmation that the 2012 Games are coming to London is already generating new enquiries from overseas investors looking to relocate in East London.
Noting evidence from other Olympic venues, RICS suggests that Londons successful bid may now see property values in the new Olympic area surge.
"In relation to property investment and development it will transform East
London and act as a significant catalyst for regeneration in the Thames
Gateway," said Jeremy Edge, RICS planning spokesman.
