Major new industrial development for Cambridgeshire green lit

Bourn Quarter, a major new industrial development, has been granted planning permission from South Cambridgeshire District Council.

The scheme will span over 260,000 sqft of warehouse, production, storage and business space and will suit a range of occupiers including mid-tech, lab and R&D space.

Philip Woolner, joint Managing Partner at Cheffins, said: “Whilst providing flexible business space, the inclusion of the wide range of green credentials will ensure that Bourn Quarter will set the tone for sustainable commercial development across the region, following government guidelines on energy efficiency.

“As there is a major lack of industrial, office and R&D space currently available in the local area, Bourn Quarter will help readjust the balance in terms of supply and demand, whilst also providing the sustainability measures which are sought-after by a number of occupiers within the current market.”

Totalling over 25 acres it is set to be a net zero carbon ready development and will be optimised for energy efficiency with high sustainability credentials. The scheme will include an array of roof-mounted solar PV panels. The scheme features four acres of green space, amenity areas, a running track and links to local footpath networks, as well as a series of outdoor fitness facilities.

Cheffins and joint agents, Savills, are now taking expressions of interest for occupation at the scheme with construction already underway on phase 1 of the scheme, with units available ranging from 1,710 sq ft to 26,930 sq ft, which will be ready for occupation from March 2022.

Bourn Quarter is within easy reach of Cambridge, London and major motorway networks.
