'Too Comfy' - Armchair Investors Take Note

Property trader Stewart Stabands provides an update on his latest activity

While sitting in my auspicious office in South West London I contemplated what other measures I could be exploring to increase my pipeline of property deals.

I've always known about investors 'walking the streets' to find deals but to me it sounded too much like hard work. Anyway I have always liked my comfy chair!

It wasn't until I met my two business partners at our weekly meeting that the suggestion was made to get out and find deals locally. "I walked the streets locally and you'll be amazed the hidden gems you find" said one of them. If it wasn't for his infectious enthusiasm I would have made my excuses and suggested we look again at some auctions this month.

So, the three of us decided to 'walk the streets' in an undisclosed South West London location. I must admit as we walked I had already made sweeping assumptions this was not going to work and already longed for my comfy chair!

How wrong I was. We had made a note of seven addresses with potential investment opportunities. This was not only a shock but it took us by surprise just how much fun it was. It helped there were three of us as we each saw opportunities where the other two hadn't. Any onlookers would have called the police as we were peeking over fences, standing on bins; basically looking very suspiciously like burglars pricing up a job!
